Linux accounts & terminal

Use the real host shell with an explicitly linked Linux account.

Link an existing account

In Users, link an existing Linux account using the administrator’s EveryOS password and that Linux account’s password. Linking does not create an account, change sudoers or grant root file browsing. Root, service, nologin and locked-password accounts cannot be linked.

Review Linux authorization

Host files and the terminal follow the linked account’s real filesystem permissions. Supported system operations also verify existing sudo rights. Explicit grants can last from 15 minutes to indefinitely and survive logout, desktop locking and restarts; current Linux policy is still rechecked. Review and revoke grants when they are no longer needed.

Open a real terminal

Terminal is currently administrator-only and needs a linked account and Python 3 on the host. Open independent shell windows, with up to four sessions per person, a 30-minute input-idle timeout and 60-second reconnect grace. Opening Terminal from Files does not yet change into that folder automatically.
