DEVELOPERS
App SDK & APIs
Build third-party desktop apps without modifying EveryOS itself.
Start with the standalone SDK
Use Node.js 26+ and the actual release archives for SDK 1.0.1, the generator and CLI. SDK versioning is independent from the EveryOS version and npm publication is optional. Choose a vanilla, React, React-widget or hybrid template; follow the source guide to build, validate, test, pack, sign and publish.
Declare capabilities and test
Apps and app widgets run in sandboxed frames. Declare the capabilities they need; host operations are enforced by the server. Use mock tests and a real signed development registry. Network tools need administrator host/CIDR and port allowlists. SQL tools need configured PostgreSQL, MySQL or MariaDB connections, elevated approval and desktop confirmation for writes. SSH private-key export also requires confirmation.
Use the documented APIs
Read the SDK reference and authenticated HTTP API documentation for routes, CSRF and event streams. There is no generic privileged command API. Publish signed packages to a verified private registry or submit to the community registry. Check the manifest, network, database, widgets and distribution references before adding those capabilities.
Based on EveryOS v0.1.38
